About Susan Wagner
My image anchors are based on landscape, architecture and natural and geometric forms, and through these, I express my particular sensibility, which is an attraction to undercurrents of feeling, the observed moment, and the contrasts in energy found in nature. The building up of layers in my work is an accumulation of emotions, decisions, and actions—one following the other—coming together to form a story and atmosphere.
Award-winning Minneapolis based artist Susan Wagner has been redefining the landscape with her paintings and mixed media works since 2005. At the heart of all her works are elements of the land, using recognizable characteristics and architectural shapes as her starting points. Susan uses oil and acrylic paint, Venetian plaster and paper to create works that are newly constructed worlds evoking connection, energy and emotional atmospheres.
In addition to the Twin Cities, her work is in private collections in New York, NY, Roanoke, VA, Dallas, Portland OR, Utah, Las Vegas, Sweden. Selected paintings can be purchased through Veronique Wantz Gallery, Minneapolis, MN.
